Rotary eClub Video – April 8, 2020 –– This week’s guest speaker is Lyn Stroshin, President of NAYEN 2019-2021.

Lyn will speak and take questions on the COVID-19 crisis and its impact on youth exchange—both this year and next year. She will also offer advice to Rotarians throughout Canada, the U.S., and Mexico (NAYEN’s area of membership).

Lyn’s first association with Rotary was created when she lived for a year with a Rotary family in Argentina at the age of 18. This was not an “official” Rotary exchange. She was however the 20th exchange student that Rotarians Mama y Papa Romano hosted. Lyn joined the Rotary club of Whistler Millennium in 2000 when one of her daughters travelled to Brazil as a RYE student. Immediately she was recruited to join the District 5040 RYE committee. She became the District 5040 RYE Chair for the years 2003 to 2006. In 2004 one of her sons went to Germany on the STEP program.

In 2005 her district received the Outstanding District Award from the USA/Canada Rotary Youth Exchange Network ( the precursor of NAYEN). Lyn was president of the Rotary Club of Whistler Millennium in 2007/8. From 2008 to 2014 she was the NAYEN board director for Region 6 ( Independent Canada). She was a D 5040 board director from 2011 to 13. In 2013 Lyn started her training with the D. 5040 Governor chain. In 2016-17 Lyn was honoured to be District Governor of District 5040. Following that year she became District Youth Chair for D. 5040 for two years. In 2017 Lyn became President Elect of NAYEN for two years.

She is the current president of NAYEN till 2021. As the Rotary Foundation is their charity of choice both Lyn and her husband Alex are members of the Arch Klumph Society. Lyn and her husband Alex have four wonderful grown children and two adorable grandchildren who hopefully will be future exchange students.
