Cultural Exchange Enthusiasts talk to Tom Thorfinnson, Chief Strategy Officer at Rotary International.

Topic: The Future of Rotary and COVID-19

Please join this week’s eClub meeting. You don’t have to be a Rotarian to pay us a visit!

Date: Wednesday, June 3, 4:30-5:30pm Central Time

Tom’s official Rotary International bio is below. What’s not included is how he made a difference in district 5950. He began as a Rotarian in the Hopkins Rotary Club and is a member of the Eden Prairie Noon club today. From 1996-97 he served as 5950 District Governor. In 1999-2000 he chaired the North Star Rotary Youth Exchange Program.

Tom Thorfinnson is the Chief Strategy Officer for Rotary International. Tom has been an active Rotarian and has served Rotary in a number of volunteer capacities, including in 2016 as co-moderator of the Rotary Leadership Training Institute. Tom served for five years on the Strategic Planning Committee as either a member or as a liaison. Tom was a member of the RI Board of Directors from 2009-2011 and served as Rotary’s Vice-President in 2010-11. Most recently Tom served as Vice-Chair and Trustee of the Rotary Foundation.

Tom resigned from the Trustees to take on the Chief Strategy Officer position. Tom combines over 30 years of corporate law and corporate governance practice with his extensive volunteer experience to bring a fresh volunteer perspective to this executive management position. Using the sports vernacular, Tom considers the decision as “simply moving from one spot to another position on the team.”
